More writing...

 My music notebook :)

i don't wanna be the kind of artist that gets handed a song to sing. i'll take it (lol) but i don't want all my songs to be handed to me. i do wanna sing about things that i've experienced & that others can relate to, or things that not everyone are singing about. i love poetry so hopefully that can help me along the way. Usually, i don't have much to write about (yeah, my life's boring, lol) but now, i have homework! i have to start writing 3 songs a week so that i can get better at writing music. Today, i was told to write 3 songs by saturday -_-. Not too happy about that but i am glad tho that i can ask for help. lol.

But anyway, a song was chosen for me to change the words to & sing my own way*. i had to write it in ONE day! i'm glad i didn't have to go to the studio until nighttime the next day because that gave me time to finish it. So i changed some of the words & also added my own lyrics & different tones to the song, & it was recorded last night. :)

i really cannot wait til u guys hear it! ^_^

Studio Session

Hola!
Last week i met up with my friend Pharfetched for a writing session. He's a smart & multi-talented individual & his writing skills are ON. POINT! So he was the first person i thought to call for help with my writing. We talked about some projects & he shared some very interesting words with me. Love him!

i was telling him about this song that i loved & that i was interested in writing to. I looked all over the internet for the instrumental until i finally found a remake. He said to me "u write something & i'll write something, then we'll go from there."

So it was there, at Starbucks, that i got inspired (& i say inspired because it takes me a while to come up with a subject but there, it came to me pretty quickly, lol). His verse was awesome & i was a bit intimidated but i sang to him what i wrote & he liked it! ^_^ & today, i got in the studio to finally record it. :)

Minor details...

Quite a few things have happened on my journey already but, since this blog is new, we won't backtrack too far.

A few weeks ago, i performed onstage in front of a group of people for the first time. I wouldn't really call it a performance because i didn't sing any of my own songs. It was a competition judged by 3, awarding u with points on a scale of 1-10. I sang 1+1 by Beyoncé (check out my cover below under the "video bar") and got a total of 24 points, which put me in 2nd place to a rapper from Brooklyn who received 27 points. It was quite an experience for me because i got to sort of break out of my shell. Now i can't wait to step on a stage again ^_^

Recently, i've worked with singer/songwriter AJ da R&B General. Hopefully u will get to hear about that soon. On august 7th, we met up with him & let him hear this instrumental & right on the spot, he wrote me the hook. :D

My Journey

Words cannot describe how excited i am to pursue music. it's been my dream since i was a little girl, in the small island of Haiti, listening to Whitney Houston and trying to hit her notes. lol. So this blog will be about my journey. The readers will know almost every step i take on the way, lol. i wouldn't be myself if i didn't leave some mystery behind. So i hope i get more readers and that u will enjoy my blog just as much as i'll enjoy this whole experience :)
